Continuing on from yesterday further work was done on the table top today so as to get this job done as far as possible before we start to move some of the bigger boats inside.

Back on the Go
The new boat door has now been connected to the electricity so we can open & close the door using power which is a lot easier than the manual method. Work has started on constructing a table top using spare wood for an old sink stand.

All Go
During the last few days progress has been made on the new boat door. The old concrete footing has been removed and a new concrete ramp installed. There is still some more concrete work to be done and the trim still needs to be added to protect the wall edges. Today the electrician installed a 3 phase supply to the door switch/motor. The door still needs commissioning which entails setting the open & closed limits.
Work has started on converting an old sink unit into a utility work bench using some spare materials we have left over from a previous job.
Both White Wings and Shamrock received some more paint today.
We have received a number of collapsible fish boxes and some trolleys to move them. These boxes will be used to store bits-n-pieces associated with a particular boat so that the bits don't get separated in the workshop.

A New Year
Not unsurprisingly there has been no further work on the new boat door over the Christmas & New Year period. Even so we had a play with the new door using the backup manual method, it is slow but eventually we got it fully open and closed again.
Work on Saga continues with the new rubbing stakes having the numerous screw holes plugged and sanded off.The series of recent storms have caused a little damage to some of the canvas boat covers on the boats stored outside. This damage was temporarily patched and a permanent fix will be completed when the warmer weather arrives later in the year.Friday, 22 December 2023
Storm Pia
It's been windy recently as Storm Pia went through. A couple of the boats stored outside in the compound lost props or supports as they moved slightly in the wind. These have been replaced. Today turned into a maintenance day at an electrician arrived unexpectedly to work on the Fire System which had been playing up. We now have some new fire sensors and alarms fitted.

Quiet Day
With the approach of Christmas and some sickness it was a quiet day at the Old Herring Factory. The hardy bunch that turned out spent their time on tool maintenance and cleaning. There has been no further progress on the boat door in the last week. Work should hopefully recommence early next week.
