Big turn out today with 6 volunteers available to work on stripping the underside of Waterlily. She is now about half stripped so should be completely done after a couple more sessions. A few areas of rotten wood in the lower planking were found, after we have completed the stripping we will consult the professionals and write up how we intend to restore her in the Conservation Management Plan (CMP).

The morning started with a Haven sub-group progress meeting in the warmth of Julia's Cafe before we regrouped at the storage shed to move some boats around. In the shed we double stacked one of the lighter dinghies on top of another boat to make space for Falcon which should come out of Jeff Mackie's workshop later this week. We then swapped Shamrock and Waterlily so that we could finish off scraping the outside of Waterlily.

The focus continued to be the stripping the auxillary bits of Waterlily. The second oar was stripped, stripping of the rudder was finished and work was started on one of the spars. Besides stripping the exterior of the hull , which requires the boat turning over, the only remaining bit of Waterlily which requires stripping is the mast.

We finished off scraping the flaky black paint from the inside of Waterlily and hoovered out. Attention then turned to the rudder and oars which all required stripping. More work is still required to finish the rudder and one oar remains to be stripped. We now need a 'heavy' crew to move some boats to allow Waterlily to be inverted on the pallets.

Stripping of the top inside paint from Waterlilly has been completed. Some scraping of the black interior coating remains to be completed. Then the boat needs turning over and raising on pallets for the outside to be stripped.

Paint scraping of the top inside of Waterlily continues. There is probably a couple more work days required to finish off the top inside. Some of the timmer tops and thwart knees may need attention. Once the top inside scraping is finished it will be necessary to turn Waterlily over so that the bottom can be scraped - this will require around 4 strong people.
