Back to normal service

The sun was out today and there wasn't a lot of wind so a good day to finish the safety fencing. We had some heavy rope in stock which we hung between the posts.

Inside, work continued on stripping old paint off Laverne

and also the Yachting World Catamaran Venture

Going, going, gone

One boat we have deemed not worth preserving has been disposed of. We do not have sufficient resources to keep everything so some prioritisation based on a points based merit system is required.

A new dinghy & more varnishing

A new dinghy has arrived. Known as the Grieve dinghy this boat was used at times as a tender to another of our historic vessels, Cingalee. We need to do work to replace the missing gunwale but the rest of the hull is not too bad.

Some of the recreated internal fittings of Saga which have been test fitted have been removed for varnishing.

Safety Barrier & Feathers

Progress is being made with the construction of a safety barrier at the top of the new ramp leading up to the Boat Door. The fence posts have been postcrete'd into position.

Elsewhere feathering has been put up around the edges of the Loading Bay door to dissuade birds from nesting on the top of the door roller mechanism.

More Building Works

Putting up posts along the top edge of the gravel ramp side slope between which we will hang a rope to stop people falling down the slope.

Putting up 'feather' strip to keep the birds out around the loading bay door.
